According to the National Council on Aging's most recent
survey of people on the far side of 60, "An active sex life appears to be as
normal a part of aging as retiring and having grandchildren."
Almost half of the respondents said they were sexually active and almost 40
percent said they'd like sex more often. The majority of men over 70 said sex is
important; half of the women agreed.
The most commonly cited sexual activity for older people is cuddling, followed
by intercourse.
Here are more survey findings on the 60-plus group:
*61 percent of men are sexually active; 37 percent of women.
*61 percent of men find sex equal to or more physically satisfying than it was
in their 40s; 62 percent of women agree.
*76 percent of men find sex at least as emotionally satisfying as it was in
their 40s; 69 percent of women agree.
*72 percent of men consider sex important to their relationship with their
partner; 47 percent of women agree.
